BACCO, Osvaldo Di Bacco
September 13, 1950 - December 13, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Osvaldo Di Bacco on December 13, 2025 at the age of 75 years old at St Peters Hospital. He passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at his side after a long battle with health issues.
He was born on September 13, 1950 in Pratola Peligna, Italy and then immigrated in 1967 with his parents where he began his life in Canada. He was a hardworking man and dedicated many years to his work . He met the love of his life Marisa and then started a family and shared 49 beautiful years of marriage with many great memories.
Osvaldo was a cherished husband to Marisa, devoted father to his children Lisa (Gil), Marco (Lauren), and Robert, and loving Nonno to his granddaughter Makayla.
Osvaldo will be reunited with his parents Salvatore and Emilia Di Bacco and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Romualdo and Lina Di Loreto.
He was a proud brother of the late Tony (Anita), Attilio (late Ena) and brother in law of Tonino and Lerida Eramo. Osvaldo will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends across Italy, Canada, and the US.
He was known to many as “Ozzie” with an amazing smile and heart of gold. He was a man of few words but one thing was certain and that was the love he had for his family which he enjoyed having come over for family dinners altogether. He loved making Italian sausages and sugo, family trips to Wasaga beach, cheering on his kids when they played sports, and playing scopa. He had a great passion for gardening and keeping his lawn immaculate and everyone knew who had the best lawn on the street. He had a love for sports and enjoyed watching his Leafs, Blue Jays, Raptors, 49ers, and Roma while munching on his cheezies. TV time watching his Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and Family Feud every night was a highlight as he tried to guess the answers. He also felt great joy in watching all of Makayla’s dance competitions and soccer games, she always managed to light up his days and put a huge, beautiful smile on his face. That is the smile we will always remember.
We want to send a special thank you to St Peters Palliative Hospital from the compassionate care of Dr Lafreniere and Dr He, to all of the incredible nurses who cared for Ozzie day in and day out, and to all the support staff… you are all a truly caring and very special kind of group who supported our father and his family to get through this very difficult time. We knew from the first day he arrived that he would get exceptional care and we are eternally grateful for that.
May you now rest in peace. We love you very much and you will forever be in our hearts.Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Thursday December 18, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. with Prayer Vigil at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church 165 Prospect Street North, Hamilton on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 10:30 am.
