With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Mariana Badiu (née Fira) – a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and kind soul – who left this world on July 9, 2025, at the age of 61.
Mariana was born on January 11, 1964, in Călimănești, Vâlcea County, Romania, to Nicolae and Florea Fira. She was one of ten children in a large and loving family. Though her parents and two of her siblings have passed, she is survived by two sisters and five brothers, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
She attended elementary school in her hometown and, at the young age of 14, moved to Sibiu to continue her education at the Agricultural High School. After graduation, she began working at the “13 Decembrie” factory, while also continuing her studies through evening classes — always demonstrating ambition and perseverance.
At the age of 18, she met Aurel Tibi Badiu, her soulmate and future husband. After two years of love and companionship, they married and were blessed with their only son, Alin Badiu, who became the light of her life.
In 1990, Mariana started working for Gaz Metan Sibiu as an SRM operator, a position she held with dedication until 2001, when the family emigrated to Canada in search of a better future.
In Canada, she continued her professional journey, working as a supervisor at both Oakville Conference Center and Palais Royale, where she was deeply respected for her calm, dedication, and leadership.
From the very beginning of their new life in Canada, the Badiu family remained closely knit, always living near one another and holding fast to their strong family values and love.
In 2011, Mariana proudly witnessed the marriage of her son Alin to Alexandra, whom she warmly welcomed and loved as her own daughter. In 2019, her heart was filled with immeasurable joy with the birth of her grandson, Noah Badiu, who brought her endless happiness, hope, and purpose.
In 2020, Mariana was faced with a devastating diagnosis — breast cancer. Despite this life-altering news, she remained a woman of deep faith, dedicating herself to prayer and spiritual strength. Through God’s grace and her own unwavering resilience, she fought this battle with dignity for nearly five years, enduring it without complaint or despair.
On July 9, 2025, Mariana left this world peacefully, leaving behind a profound emptiness in the hearts of her husband Aurel Tibi, son Alin, daughter-in-law Alexandra, grandson Noah, her siblings, extended family, and all those who were blessed to know and love her.
In her final thoughts, Mariana humbly asked for forgiveness and expressed her love and gratitude to:
Her beloved husband, Tibi, with whom she shared a lifetime of partnership and unconditional love and support; her dear son, Alin, of whom she was endlessly proud and to whom she dedicated her life; her daughter-in-law, Alexandra, whom she cherished and guided with love and kindness; her grandson, Noah, the purest joy of her later years, who loved her unconditionally; her brothers, sisters, in-laws from the Fira and Badiu families; and all friends and loved ones who were a part of her life.
She thanks everyone for their love, support, and prayers, and leaves behind a legacy of peace, warmth, and kindness. May God rest her soul in eternal peace and light. She will forever remain in our hearts.
