Ruby was born in Bickford, Ontario where her parents owned and operated the general store, post office, and gas station. At just 8 years old, she began helping with mail duties.

In 1948 she went on a blind date with a handsome bread man from Petrolia. A year later, Ruby and Sherman were married. They spent most of their 61 years of marriage in Corunna, where they raised 4 wonderful children.
Ruby later worked at the Corunna Post Office until her retirement in 1986.

Ruby was a devout Christian, a Sunday school teacher, and an active member of Courtright Baptist, Corunna Baptist, and later Huron Baptist Church. A lifelong crafter, she enjoyed card-making and teaching classes.

For the past decade, she lived at Landmark Retirement Village, where she was an active and beloved resident. The family is deeply thankful for the compassionate care provided by Bluewater Health Palliative Care,
St. Joseph’s Hospice, and especially the nurses and PSWs who supported them through Ruby’s final journey.

Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at Huron Baptist Church, 1285 Michigan Ave, Sarnia, on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 11:00 am, with visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
