BAMBINI, Maria Bambini

God has received into His heavenly arms on March 11th, 2026, at the age of 100, His loving daughter, Maria Bambini (nee Peri). Born in Fivizzano, province of Massa and Carrara, Tuscany Italy, she was the beloved wife of the late Giovanni Bambini and mother of Sandra (John). Predeceased are her parents, Ernesto Peri and Armandina Martelli as well as her sisters Fosca Mannelli, Elisabetta Zorzato and brother Umberto Peri. Maria will be sadly missed by her sister Teresita Mazzacua, nieces, and nephews, especially Lorenzo, in Italy. She was also loved by many friends in the Sudbury area especially those on Patrick Street who cared for her well-being.

Maria recalled happily beginning her working career of 10 years in the kitchen at Cambrian College. She was an instrumental part of the CWL and parish of St. Andrew the Apostle Church. For many years she was the handmaid of the Lord, cleaning church vessels, decorating the Church, washing, and ironing altar cloths as well as a woman of great faith, attending Mass daily, by either walking or taking the bus. Maria provided cookies for church events and served tea/juice and water at funerals. As she was alone, leftover sandwiches were offered but she happily left with a plate of desserts. At the CWL Christmas parties, Maria was instrumental in gathering the Italian ladies and leading them in a beautiful rendition of “O Bambino.”

Many thanks to those who provided support, personal care and love during her earthly journey, relieving stress and helping Maria remain in her home.

Resting at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Friends may call from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday, March 15th, 2026. Funeral Mass in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 1250 Barrydowne Rd., on Monday, March 16th, 2026, at 10:00am. Entombment in the Civic Mausoleum.
