BANKS, Mary Murphy Banks (Quinn)

Mary Murphy (nee Quinn) Banks passed away suddenly and peacefully, surrounded by her children, on May 23, 2025, at North York General Hospital. She was 89 years old.

Born on July 2, 1935, at Newmarket Hospital to Vivian and Felix Quinn, Mary spent most of her life bringing warmth and joy to those around her. For 60 years, she made her home in Scarborough, where she devoted herself to her greatest pride and accomplishment – raising her children.

Known for the ever-present twinkle in her eye and her welcoming smile, Mary approached life with genuine warmth and dedication to her family. Her role as a mother and grandmother brought her immense joy, and she took great pride in watching her family grow.

Mary leaves behind her loving children: Kathy and Bob Shearman of Whitby, John and Mona Banks of Scarborough, and Chris and Bob McFater of Pickering. She was a cherished grandmother to Sam, Tom, Zoey, Abby, Johnny, and Kevin.

She was predeceased by her parents, Vivian and Felix Quinn, and her siblings Patricia Oldaker, Tom Quinn, and Ted Quinn.

A Mass will be held at St Anthony’s Catholic Church in Virginia, ON on May 31, 2025 at 11a.m. Interment to follow.
