Sharon Mary Ellen (Hare) Basler of Listowel passed away peacefully at Rotary Hospice, Stratford, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, in her 85th year.
Beloved wife of the late George Basler (2016). Proud and loving mother of Patrick Basler & Barb Colquhoun of Paris, Maureen & Roger LaHaie of London, Michael & Jennifer Basler of London, and Natalie Core and Kevin O’Reilly of Grand Bend. Grandmother of Mathew, Rachael, Courtney, Leah, Avery, Eric, Olivia, Joseph and Isabella.
Sister-in-law of Tom Basler of R.R. 3, Listowel, Alice (John) Basler of Elmira, and Diane (Doug) Letson of Elmira. Forever remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Herbert & Madeline (McElhone) Hare, sister Carol Shewburg, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Theresa Basler, Jacqueline & Jack Morrissey, Marie & Bill Linden, Eileen & John Huck, Jim Basler, Sandy Basler, Jack Seiler, and nieces Christine Seiler and Rebecca Seiler.
Sharon was born in Simcoe to Herbert and Madeline Hare on October 5, 1940. She and her sister Carol grew up in Simcoe, surrounded by the love of their family, developing close and dear relationships with many cousins and friends. Sharon continued her devotion and love for her family, marrying George in 1964 and raising her four children with a strong Faith and a legacy of traditions.
Sharon took great pride in her position as Executive Assistant at Ideal Supply for 25 years. She was forever grateful to the MacDonald family at Ideal Supply in Listowel for their steadfast support throughout her career there. Sharon developed many relationships and fond memories with the employees of Ideal Supply over the years. Sharon found great joy in the friendships she made through many service clubs and her church parish. She was an active member of the Kinette Club, St. Joseph’s CWL, Curling Club and the Golf Club, all of Listowel.
Sharon enjoyed many years at her cottage watching her grandchildren grow up enjoying the lake, nature and everyone’s laughter. Sharon will be fondly remembered for her dedication to her Faith, quick wit and comical antics.
Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Monday August 25, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with prayers at 5:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Listowel on Tuesday, August 26th at 11:00 a.m. with reception to follow in the church hall. A private family interment at Fairview Cemetery Listowel.
