BEATTY, Ann Beatty

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ann on Jan 5, 2026, at Lakeridge Gardens in Ajax. Ann passed peacefully in her 82nd year with her loving and devoted husband, James A. Beatty, by her side, holding her hand. Though the final years of her life were challenged by Alzheimer’s disease, the deep bond Ann and James shared was evident to the very end.

Ann has rejoined her parents, Ethel (née Wood) and Charles Frith, as well as her beloved sister, Jean Goldsmith.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband James; her children Sarah Siobhan (Aaron), and Sean Paul (Megan), and James’ children Gleyn (Krista), and Michael (Andrea); and her cherished grandchildren Phoenix, Ava, Cian, Victoria, Kaitlyn, Madison, Vanessa, and James as well as her numerous friends and family both here in Canada and in England.

Ann loved and cared deeply for, and was cherished by, friends and family throughout every chapter of her life. She grew up in Salford, England, and as a young woman moved to London with her lifelong friend Margaret, where they worked in the courts and at a pub. With both parents gone ,on May 1, 1967, at the age of 22, Ann immigrated to Canada to begin a new adventure. She worked with Xerox before moving into a role at the placement agency Madison Reynolds. Following a corporate restructuring, Ann and her partners purchased the agency, which became Kent Legal. Together, they built a thriving and highly respected business within the Toronto legal profession—one Ann took great pride in. As her family grew, the home on Landfair Crescent, Oakville, became much more than a place to live. It was where neighbours became family and where Ann raised her two children, surrounded by community and friendship.

Later in life, Ann moved downtown to be closer to her flourishing business. It was there, in 1994, that a chance meeting introduced her to James. Their lives became forever intertwined. Ann retired in 2000 and sold the business she had proudly built, allowing her to dedicate her time to volunteering at St. Michael’s Hospital for four years.

After a seven-year courtship, Ann and James were married on October 26, 2002, at their church, Metropolitan United. Together they embraced life fully—They loved to travel and enjoyed their crossings to England on the Queen Mary 2 to spend time with friends and family. Closer to home they spent their summers at the cottage in Heaven North, and winters at their ski chalet in Québec. Their shared life was rich with companionship, adventure, and love.

In 2016, Ann received the devastating diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, a moment that forever changed their lives. Through it all, Ann remained strong and faced the many challenges it brought with grace. James remained steadfastly by her side, caring for her with unwavering love and devotion.

Ann will be remembered for her strength, warmth, entrepreneurial spirit, and the deep connections she formed wherever life took her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and meaningful relationships that will continue to live on in all who knew her.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful Staff, Doctors, Nurses, and PSW’s at Lakeridge Gardens, who took incredible care of Ann during her three-and-a-half-year stay, and for the support they provided to James during his daily visits.

In memory of Ann, the family welcomes memorial donations in lieu of flowers to St Michael’s Hospital Foundation, The Canadian Cancer Society or The Alzheimer’s Society of Durham. All of which had special meaning for Ann.

Funeral Service will be held at Metropolitan United Church , 56 Queen St. E , Toronto at 1:00 pm on Saturday , January 24th.
