BELL, Samuel Martin Bell
October 6, 2025
Peacefully, with family by his side, Samuel Martin Bell passed away at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, on October 6, 2025, in his 89th year.
Sam is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Frances (Jones) Bell, and his children Martin, Stacey (Dave) Riddell, and Nancy Kaiser, as well as his daughter-in-law Mary Bell. He was a proud grandfather to Ashley (Jordan), Charlotte, Kaylea, Cameron, Nicole, Chloé, Sydney, and Aidan, and a cherished great-grandfather to Everly, Wyatt, Maxwell, Theodore, and Bowen. Sam is also survived by his sister Frances MacKinnon.
He was predeceased by his beloved son Jason (2007), his brother Steven “Doug” Bell, sister Jeannie Elliott, and his parents Samuel and Frances Bell.
Sam deeply valued time spent with his extended family, especially during celebrations, cottage trips, and beach outings. His warmth and gentle spirit made every gathering more joyful.
Throughout his life, Sam was a respected friend, neighbour, co-worker, and community member. His career at Lawson Business Forms saw him rise to the role of International Vice President of a specialty conference union. He was a passionate darts player, competing in leagues across London, Grand Bend, Forest, Parkhill, and Strathroy.
Sam was a proud and long-time member of the Grand Bend Royal Canadian Legion, and the Charter President of the Bosanquet Beaches Optimist Club, where he was later honoured as Distinguished President. An award created in his name remains a lasting tribute to his dedication and leadership.
Sam and Fran shared a love for animals, especially their cherished pets over the years. He was often seen walking his standard poodle Lizzy through the neighbourhood or enjoying coffee and ice cream on the porch at G & R with dear friends Gail and Randy, and the rest of the coffee club.
Despite facing many health challenges in his later years, Sam’s resilience was a source of inspiration to his family—lovingly described as their “Energizer Bunny,” always pushing forward with strength and grace.
Above all, Sam was a loving, encouraging, and calming presence. He was deeply grateful for every moment spent with his grandchildren and took great pride in their lives.
The Bell family extends heartfelt thanks to the palliative care team at Bluewater Health for their compassionate support.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sam’s memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 498 Poppy Fund.
