Jean Merida Bennett
June 29, 1945 – December 5, 2024
Jean Merida Bennett, born in Windsor, Ontario in 1945, passed away suddenly on December 5, 2024, at Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby, Ontario. Jean’s life was one of profound dedication, love, and impact.
Predeceased by her parents and her brother, Timothy O’Lett of Ottawa, Jean is deeply mourned by her devoted husband, Robert, and her beloved children: Angela Litticoat, Dr. Kimberley Bennett, Wendy Teghmeyer, Rev. Sherry Fugard, and Robert J. Bennett. She is fondly remembered by her 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.
Jean was a proud graduate of McMaster University and a cherished member of the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO). She dedicated her life to shaping future designers as a respected teacher at Niagara College and Sheridan College of Design in Interior Design.
A passionate gardener, Jean transformed her garden into a sanctuary of beauty and serenity. She also found peace walking along the shores of Lake Ontario and engaging in boating, fishing, and kayaking.
Jean’s sudden departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, students, and colleagues. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched, the gardens she nurtured, and the memories she created.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
Rest in peace, Jean. Your spirit will continue to inspire and blossom in our hearts.
