BENOIT, Claudette Yvette Benoît

It is with great sadness that the family announces her passing at the Timmins and District Hospital on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the age of 79 years. Beloved wife of 47 years to J. Léonard Benoît. Loving mother of Jean-François Benoît and the late Philippe-André Benoît (2005). Cherished grandmother of Vincent Benoît. She is survived by her brother Gerald Legendre (Audrey Haney) of St. Catharines and her many nieces and nephews from the Legendre and Lemire family. Claudette was predeceased by her parents Valois Legendre (1987) and Viola Legendre (née Lemire) (2016), as well as her in-laws Raymond Benoît (2024) and Doris Benoît (née Drisdelle) (1987). In the early 70s, Claudette returned to Timmins after spending 8 years in the United States for an internship. She returned to teaching in 1975 at “Ecole secondaire Thériault” where she met Leonard. In 1977-1978 she became a counselor at the center for battered women. Claudette and Léonard married on August 26, 1978, and started a family in Timmins. Over the years, Claudette was very involved in the community. She was a founding member of the Circle of mother Teresa 1353 – Daughters of Isabella. She held positions at the Northern Ontario State level as a spiritual advisor and became the regent of the local circle. Claudette always looked out for the needs of others; she touched many people throughout her life and will be missed by many. The family wishes to thank Dr. Christian Durepos for his support during the last stages of her life. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 10 am from the Notre-Dame de-la-Paix Church (Fr. Richard Ngoy officiating). Remembrance donations to the Daughters of Isabella – Circle of Mother Teresa 1353 will be greatly appreciated. The family will welcome relatives and friends on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, RECEPTION AND CREMATION CENTER, 150 South Balsam Street, Timmins.
