BERDAN, Thea Maria Berdan

Beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 31 st , 2025, at the age of 80 in London, Ontario. Her children Michael (Christy) and Mark (Sarah) were at her side. Born in Hillegom, Holland in 1944 to Art and Ann Jansen, Thea immigrated to Canada with her loving family in 1959 and settled in the London area where her family started a greenhouse business. Thea relocated to Oak Ridges in 1982 with her then husband George and two sons. If was here where she spent a significant portion of her life as a dedicated mother. She had spent several years working for Tudor Shipping and retired at the age of 71.

Thea was a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren Mia, Anna, and Allie. From a family of five siblings, she was preceded in death by her brother Pete. She is survived by her three sisters Joyce, Ann, and Rita, and her brother Art. She will be missed and cherished by everyone. Thea had a passion for travel throughout her life. She got to see many wonderful worldwide places and regularly spoke about the memories travelling with her family. She had a passion for gardening. From euchre to bridge, Thea was an avid card player and belonged to several card playing groups. She was also highly involved in the community from canvassing for charities to historical societies to chaperoning her sons’ school trips.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PHA Canada or SickKids Hospital.
