
BERRY, Elsie May (née Ivison) passed away at Dover Cliffs LTC on Sunday, June 1, 2025 in her 93rd year.
Dearly loved mother of David, Brian and Carl Ryerse. Elsie was a kind and loving person.
She will be missed by her nieces and nephews and friends in Port Dover and Brantford.
Predeceased by her parents Doug and Clara Ivison and her brother Lawrence. Elsie was in nursing most of her life and specialized in geriatric care of disabled and elderly patients.
She started her nurses training at the Port Dover Nursing Home, where she was employed for 8 years and also served as their activity director, creating many entertaining moments for residents.
Elsie even had the Port Dover July 1 parade route changed so residents could view the parade outdoors. She served with St. John Ambulance and was always on hand for cuts and bruises.
She also worked at the Simcoe Hospital Nursing Home and was honoured during police week throughout Ontario.
Later, she moved to Brantford and continued to work in hospitals, nursing homes, and private duty nursing, specializing in terminal illness and care for the disabled and elderly.
Elsie also worked for the Red Cross and Homecare, and volunteered as a knitter for the VON. In her spare time, she enjoyed singing Barbershop with the Brant Choraleens, performing at the Sanderson Centre.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone at Dover Cliffs LTC for their compassion and care.
A graveside service will be held at Port Dover Cemetery on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 3 pm. Reverend Kathryn Vance officiating.
