BETTS, Douglas William Betts

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Douglas William Betts, of Port Hope, Ontario, who passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 9, 2025, at the age of 83.

Doug will be deeply missed by his loving wife Jill, his sons Doug Jr. (Kelly) and Todd (Pam), and his cherished grandchildren Bryson and Abigayle, who brought endless joy to his life.

He is also survived and will be missed dearly by his siblings Lynda (Steve), Jimmy, and Kenny, as well as his sister-in-law Helen, his late brother-in-law Richard, and several loving nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. Doug was predeceased by his beloved parents, Norman and Joan.

Doug will be remembered for his warm heart, sense of humor, strength, and devotion to his family. After a long and fulfilling career with Midas Canada, he enjoyed a happy retirement surrounded by the people and pastimes he loved. He was a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Steelers and a huge baseball fan running the Burrows Hall “Bullies” softball team. Whether spending time with family, watching sports, or enjoying a night at the casino, Doug brought laughter and love wherever he went.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share stories and honor a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s honour can be made to the Northumberland Hospital Dialysis Unit, whose care and kindness meant so much to him and his family.
