BIELEK, James Jim Bielek
December 15, 1950 - October 5, 2025
The family announces with sorrow Jim’s passing at the Golden Manor on Sunday, October 5, 2025, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer at the age of 74 years.
Survived by his dear wife Sharon (Kremer). Loving father of Michael Bielek (Reem) and Crystal Tulloch (Travis). Devoted Grandpa of Julian, Sebastian, Harper and Benny. He is also survived by his brothers Bob (Sue) and Doug (Barb), as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his father Hank (1994) and his mother Lucy (2008).
Following in his parents’ footsteps, Jim’s elementary teaching career for DSBONE spanned 30 years starting at Mattagami Public School, R. Ross Beattie Senior Public School and ending his career at Golden Avenue Public School. He very much enjoyed being a badminton coach and taking his students on yearly trips to Camp Bickell.
Being an outdoor enthusiast, he loved golfing, fishing, biking, cross country skiing, camping, hunting, canoeing, and hockey. He also loved the company of his dogs.
Jim had the opportunity to participate in the Timmins-Greenland Winter Games (a multi-sport event) organized by the late Dr. John Shaw as well as winning a round-trip ticket to Vancouver (2010) to watch the Canada Olympics.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all who cared for Jim, including Dr. Julie Auger, Debbie Kapias, N.P., the staff of the Golden Manor, Dr. Karen Armstrong, Dr. Louisa Bellemare, the Alzheimer Society of Timmins-Porcupine District, Bayshore HealthCare, Horizon Palliative Care (Lesly Ann, Leo), and Home and Community Care, for their exceptional care and compassion.
As per Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will follow on November 1, 2025 at Porcupine Ski Runners from 2-4 pm, with a few words from the family at 3pm. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with LESSARD Funeral and Cremation Centre. Remembrance donations to Porcupine Ski Runners, Timmins and District Hospital Foundation, or Alzheimer Society of Timmins-Porcupine District would be greatly appreciated. In Jim’s honour, everyone is invited to wear an item from the Toronto Blue Jays and/or Toronto Maple Leafs for the Celebration of Life.
