BINTAKIES, Judith Betty Pereira Bintakies
March 3, 1940 - December 21, 2025It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our matriarch, Judith “Betty” Pereira (Bintakies).
Born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, Betty was “Trini 2 de bone”. She often shared stories of her life back home and spent many years sewing Caribana costumes for Tringo and later, Mas Toronto. Betty would often be found singing and dancing to soca and calypso music. Immigrating to Canada with 5 children in 1969, she held her culture very close to her heart.
A strong and fearless woman, she found purpose and pride in her work at the Royal Bank of Canada for over 40 years. While her work was important, nothing brought her more joy than her family.
Predeceased by her parents, Winston and Mary Lyder, her siblings Ian Lyder, Albert Lyder, Barbara Ann Lindsay, her husband Louis Pereira and her daughter Judith Pereira. Outlived by 9 of her 10 children, Louis Anthony (Lynn), Lisa (Jim), Michelle (Brian), Lou-Ann (Derrick), Stephen (Tracy), Geoff (Christine), Shane (Julianne), Courtney (Andy), Zachariah (Natalia).
