BISHOP , Ann Bishop
January 2, 1944 - August 18, 2025
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025 at the age of 81, at The Leamington Mennonite Home.
Born in Bristol, England on January 2, 1944 to Jock and Mabel McLaughlin, Ann will be remembered for her generous soul, joyful spirit and her commitment to throwing a helluva good party! She loved meeting new people and sharing openly with anyone who would give her 5 minutes to listen.
Ann was the loving wife of Robert Rex Bishop, Mum to Melanie Jane Fine(Warren) and April Allison Terreau (Eric), Nana to Michael Hoyt (Melissa), Daniel Hoyt (Ariel), and Diana Hoyt and Bubbie Annie to Montana Fine (Mark).
Ann and Bob’s love story started back in the 60’s when they met at Spares & Equipment, where Ann was a secretary and Bob a draftsman. After some competition for her heart, Bob won out after a complicated night at a bowling alley.
They married in 1965 and within 3 months set sail to new lands and a new life in Canada with only £300, 3 trunks filled with their belongings and a job waiting for them.
They built a beautiful life together, went through thick and thin, sicknesses and health, and all the trials and tribulations that life threw at them. They traveled abroad, loved to cruise and became snowbirds in Florida. Ann and Bob stayed happily married for 60 years.
Ann taught her family to face their fears head on in life as she learned to drive as an adult in her 30’s. She also faced her fear of open water by learning to scuba dive so she wouldn’t be left out of family vacations to the Caribbean. She was the life of the party, knew how to kick up her heels and made a mean roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. And who could forget her Caesar Salad!
Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held at a future date. As we are not having a public service, memories you would like to share of Ann are greatly appreciated and please leave them here or email to family members. They will be read at our private service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ann’s name to The Leamington Mennonite Home who provided the most phenomenal care when she needed it the most. Donations may be made by contacting the Reid Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 14 Russell St., Leamington (519-326-2631) or at www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/the-leamington-united-mennonite-home-and-apartments/
Thank you to all of the staff, PSWs, nurses, social workers, etc who loved her as one of their own. Your care and compassion will never be forgotten.Livres et souvenirs commémoratifs
