BITZER, Robert BITZER

Robert was the cherished husband of Esther (Badertscher) Bitzer, whom he married on April 30, 1966. Loving father of Barbara and her husband Oliver Herzig, Roland Bitzer and his wife Jeanine Boulter-Bitzer, and Michael Bitzer and his wife Sonja Huitema.

Proud and devoted Opa to his grandchildren Laura (Marc), Benjamin (Seline), Michael (Lea), Sarah (Benjamin), Jakob, Maximus, Josef, and Sofia, and great-opa to 5 great Grandchildren. He will also be fondly remembered by his sister Edith, brother-in-law Martin, and by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Robert was predeceased by his three brothers Karl Heinz, Walter, and Dieter.

In 1990, Robert immigrated to Canada and fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning and operating his own dairy farm. He worked the land he loved for his entire life until just a few years ago. Robert had a passion for his 1957 Chevy Bel Air and took great pride in being an Opa, always enjoying time spent with his grandchildren, especially watching them play sports and sharing moments together.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a time of fellowship. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Milverton at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Stratford General Hospital or St. Paul’s United Church.
