BLATTER, Suzanne Blatter

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, a devout Christian and a kind woman who exemplified true strength, especially during difficult times.

Suzanne was the cherished daughter of the late Marie Antoinette and the late Paul Louis Blatter.

A dedicated and loving mother first and foremost to her children, the late Raymond Taavel (Darren Lewis), Elizabeth Robins (late Kevin) and André Taavel (Kellee), and special Nanna to her dear granddaughter, Julia Taavel (Brandon Marcotte). Suzanne leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience.

Our mother is now reunited with her twin brother, Emmanuel, her “Guardian Angel” and siblings Paul, Robert, Pete (Carrie), Carmen (Carmen Charsley) and survived by her brother Raymond Blatter (Nancie). She will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Serge, Chantal, Christophe, Gabriel, Michelle, Renée, Denis, Monique, Curtis, Paul Jr., Rita and Gary.

Born in Laverlochère, Quebec, she set her roots in Sault Ste. Marie and worked as a dedicated member of the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board until her retirement. Outside of work, mom embraced life with passion and humour. She loved ice skating, dancing, biking, walking, crafts, sewing, writing poems, spending time in her garden and the simple joy of shopping. One of her greatest pleasures, was meeting for coffee with her special girlfriends, sharing laughter and companionship. She will be missed by her many friends and extended family.

A private family service has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District or the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated medical staff at the Sault Area Hospital Emergency Department for their attentive care. A special expression of gratitude is extended to the staff of the 3rd Floor Driftwood and Cedar Grove (Palliative) at the FJ Davey Home for the compassion, dignity and constant care they provided our mother and family during her final years. A special thank you to Pastor Gabriel Araba, Father Charles Abiamiri and Pastor Michael Carlascio for their spiritual support.

Mom,

I’m remembering you especially today

because we’re so far away

My heart thinks of all the great things

You’ve done since I was wee

For your thoughtfulness and honesty

For the dedication you have shown

To raise us three, till we were full grown

I’m thankful for your beautiful smile

Your efforts to always go that extra mile,

Your many sacrifices and your serendipity

I hope and pray in the deepest way

For joys and blessings to abound

As you are honoured on this day

I thank God for the special person that you are

You truly deserve the very best.

Because Mom, you are a woman above the rest

And I wouldn’t want anyone else to be

The #1 person you are to me.

Happy Mother’s Day
Love your Son

Raymond
