In loving memory of Gilbert Boileau, who passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones.
Beloved husband of Ida Boileau (Leclaire) for 63 years. Loving father of Robert (partner Kimberley), Suzanne (husband Darren Day), and Normand. Cherished Pepere of Sabrina, Megan (partner Ronald), Mathieu (partner Angele), Kyle (wife Bailey), Patrick (partner Kaitlyn), and Maxime. Proud great-grandfather to Levi, Charlotte, and Jacob.
Loving son of the late Ida and late Anna (Goulard) Boileau. Predeceased by his sisters Simone Hamilton (Leo), Rita Cecchini (Frank), and first husband Adelard Fillion, as well as his brother Leonard (Carmel). Gilbert is survived by his younger brother Louis (wife Sheila) of Lively.
Gilbert will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Gilbert spent most of his younger years working in the logging camps in River Valley and Sturgeon Falls before moving to Chelmsford, where he raised his family. He truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at his camp in River Valley, where many cherished memories were made.
Known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humour, Gilbert was a true jokester at heart. He loved to tease and play pranks on his grandchildren, filling their lives with laughter and unforgettable moments. His playful spirit and warm smile will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Gilbert worked at INCO for 30 years β€” 15 years as a driller at the Levack Mine and 15 years in the maintenance department at Copper Cliff. He proudly served as Chairman of the Parents’ Committee at Γ‰cole Secondaire CollΓ¨ge SacrΓ©-CΕ“ur for several years. In his later years, he was a long-time volunteer and President of Club 50 Rayside-Balfour.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 4691 Regional Road 15, Chelmsford, on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. A Chapel service will follow at 11:30 a.m.
