With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Michael Boldt, affectionately known as Sonny in his early years and later as Bobby, on June 18, 2025, just shy of his 66th birthday. Bobby was a devoted son, a loving father, and a loyal friend. He had a big heart, a quick wit, and a deep love for the simple pleasures in life. He was the kind of person who could make anyone laugh with a well-timed joke and had a natural gift for lifting spirits.
Loyal and easygoing, Bobby valued family above all and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Born in Whitney, Ontario, Bobby was one of eight siblings and grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of Algonquin Park, which sparked a lifelong love of the outdoors—especially fishing. He also had a deep appreciation for music and was rarely without the company of friends or family.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Michael Boldt, Jessica Boldt (and her partner Mark), and Shannon Boldt. Bobby is also survived by his siblings: Mike (Jenn), Kenneth (Danielle), Bonnie (Floyd), and Andy (Denise), as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Ann and Earnest Boldt, and by siblings David, Donald, and Patricia.
Bobby will be honoured on Sunday, July 6, 2025, with a Mass at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church (41 Post St., Whitney) at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Ceremonial Fire at 161 Algonquin Street. The family invites all who knew and loved him to gather afterward for a Celebration of Life at Lester B. Smith Hall at noon, to share stories and say goodbye in the way he would have loved most—surrounded by laughter, music, memories, and the warmth of community.
Forever in our hearts, Bobby’s humour, kindness, and love for life will never be forgotten. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Whitney and Area Algonquins or Muskoka Senior Assist would be greatly appreciated by the family.
