BOSAK, Brenda Joan Bosak
August 11, 1943 - May 10, 2025
Surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81, our dear Brenda passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto after experiencing an unexpected medical event.
Brenda was the loving mother of Sandi (Gary), Janice (Tony) and Jackie (Derrick). Adored grandmother of Matthew, Samantha, Emily, Ava and Jordan. Cherished great grandmother “Gigi” to Taylor, Addison and Cavan. Brenda is survived by her siblings Bruce, Linda, Jean, Robert and Susan. She is predeceased by her parents Flo and Jack and her baby brother Franklin. She will be remembered ever so fondly by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, special friends, “Busy Bees” and her Wilmot Creek community.
Brenda was born and raised in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. She enjoyed an active childhood and spent many hours in the brook behind her home catching water doctors and fishing. She loved being outside and was often found chasing wild cats, playing baseball, hide and seek, marbles and roller skating down hilly sidewalks. She loved visiting the cabin and going for ice cream once a week with her family.
Brenda moved to Ontario at the age of 18 and spent her early adult years working at Simpsons before taking time to raise her family. She went back to work later in life, working for several law firms and eventually became self-employed as a process server. Throughout her entire life, Brenda was extremely dedicated and hard working.
Brenda’s family was at the heart of all that she was. She was present at all of the sporting activities, school concerts, graduations and family gatherings and she would always share how proud she was of her family. Christmas was her favourite holiday and she had fun spoiling everyone. She wore her heart on her sleeve and was extremely famous for her trays of scrumptious Christmas baking. She also loved spending quality time with her siblings, cousins and extended family.
In Brenda’s final years she moved to Wilmot Creek; her “happy place” as she would call it. She met many new friends and participated in as many activities as possible in her new home. Brenda was an active volunteer in her community. She had a green thumb and spent countless hours in her garden oasis. She chatted with anyone who walked by and befriended all of their furry pups. She was often seen handing out cut flowers or rhubarb to passerbys. Brenda was extremely passionate about cards and playing games. She was a champion Scrabble player and we didn’t dare book any family functions on Scrabble days!
Brenda was also a “Fisher Lady” and her favourite place was by the water with a fishing rod in her hand. When she was not busy baking, volunteering, taking long walks, gardening, visiting friends and loved ones, reading or playing games you’d be sure to find Bren working on a jigsaw, word puzzle or sudoku.
Brenda made an instant connection with anyone she met. She warmed up a room with her friendly smile and kind, humble and generous personality. Her kindness, generosity and love will never be forgotten.
A visitation will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division Street, Bowmanville on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 9:30-11am, followed by a service at 11am. A reception will follow. For anyone unable to attend, the service will be live streamed at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lrrZbaAYc0
We would like to thank the entire staff in the Trauma and Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit at St. Michael’s Hospital for their exceptional, compassionate care and guidance during this very difficult time. Brenda and her family were treated with the utmost dignity and respect which was so appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice, the Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation https://canlyme.com/ , the Canadian Cancer Society https://cancer.ca/en/ or the St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation https://stmichaelsfoundation.com/ (in support of “The Trauma and Neurosurgery ICU”) would be greatly appreciated
One of Brenda’s favourite sayings was “Something shared is pleasure doubled”. She touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
