BOUCHER, Mr. Shay Timothy Boucher

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shay Timothy (Bug) Boucher, age 25 years of Fort William First Nation, unexpectedly on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

Shay, or Bug as he was affectionately known, was born on September 15, 2000 in Thunder Bay and grew up in his home of Fort William First Nation. Bug loved hockey, his friends and his family. Shay always wore his heart on his sleeve and always went above and beyond for everyone he knew. He adored his loved ones growing up, and in his adulthood, Shay made his mark on all of us. He had nothing but good times and love in his heart, and being surrounded by everyone was the highlight of his life! Shay will be deeply missed by everyone who got to know him, but his spirit and love will live in us forever.

Victoria MacLaurin is the love of his life now and in every lifetime.

Shay is finally at peace. Even with all the heartache he endured, he pushed a lot of us forward even when he couldn’t do it himself. There is a quote by the author of Winnie the Pooh (A.A. Milne) which says “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard”, and this is truly how we feel – we are so grateful we got to meet someone so amazing. “God always takes the prettiest ones”.

Shay was beloved by all of his family: his true love, Victoria and his step-kids Jayce and Zayne; his Mom Amanda and Dad Timothy; his brothers Gabe, Julian, and Chris Jr. and sisters Samantha, Mackenzie and Asha; many aunties and uncles, cousins, his foster families and extended family.

He was predeceased by his father Chris; his Grandmothers Gail, Joan, Barb and Maureen and Grandfathers Percy and Tim.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 with family and friends gathering in St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Mission Church for the Funeral Mass at 11:00am, celebrated by Father Biju Mathew. Interment will take place in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 5:30pm until 8:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, with Vigil Prayers offered at 6:00pm.
