David George Bourner
10-Sep-1960 – 28-Mar-2025
David George Bourner passed away peacefully in Oshawa, Ontario on March 28th, 2025, with family by his side.
Adored husband of Joanne (nee. Currie) for over 20 years. Beloved son of George (d.2018) and Enid Bourner. Loving brother to Alison Scanlon. Proud Uncle of Jodi (Rohan) and Eric.
David will be greatly missed by his large extended family with cousins all over North America and England. He was loved dearly by his Aunt Freda and Aunt Phyllis (Uncle Robin).
David will be missed by the residents and staff at Extendicare Oshawa where he served as the President for the residents on the Board.
David faced many challenges during his lifetime but he always persevered and did it with a smile on his face. He loved his family dearly from his childhood years with his cousins in Scarborough, holiday celebrations in Waterloo, and visiting family in England. When physical challenges made sports difficult, he became the biggest hockey fan, from the Pickering Panthers to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Any news on the Leafs front would result in multiple calls being made to family (sister, cousins, nephew) and anyone else he felt should know! Some of his other passions were fishing, attending Highland Games, bowling, and playing darts.
He will be missed for his big heart, kind ways, and smiling disposition.
A visitation will be held at McEachnie Funeral Centre in Ajax on Friday, April 4th from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church in Oshawa on Saturday, April 5th at 1:00 pm.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Diabetes Society in David’s memory will be appreciated by the family. If you wish to send floral tributes, please deliver to McEachnie Funeral Home on April 4th.
