With deep sorrow and abiding faith in God’s promise of eternal life, the family of Doreen Mary Bray (née McDonald) announces her peaceful passing on September 24, 2025, at the age of 88.
Beloved wife of the late Phillip Bray, with whom she shared 56 cherished years of marriage. Together, they built a loving home grounded in faith, kindness, and family.
Doreen dedicated her professional life to nurturing young minds as a primary school teacher, retiring in 1992. Her legacy of patience, compassion, and love of learning lives on in the countless students she taught and inspired.
A devoted mother to Martin (Carol), the late Peter (Natalie), and Robert (Shelley). Treasured grandmother of Leslie (Ian), Bryan (Cici), Jordon (Elise), William (Tracy), Emily, Morgan, and Thomas. Proud great-grandmother to Clara, Brinley, Fiona, Kinsley, and Willow—her greatest joys and blessings.
Doreen was the loving daughter of the late William James Wallace McDonald and Emily Mary McDonald (née Sloan). Predeceased by her siblings Kenneth (late Alma), Clarence (Anne), Earl, and Evelyn (late Wilfred). She is survived by her dear sisters Marina (late Emile), Hilda (late Bernard), and Linda (Jack), and will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A faithful member of St. Andrew’s Parish, Doreen found strength and purpose through her deep Catholic faith, which she lived out daily through her devotion to family, service, and prayer. She was a good and faithful friend to many, including John, the late Ken Huntley, and their families.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who supported Doreen in her final days.
Visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 7:00–9:00 PM.
