It is with regret that we announce the peaceful passing of Raye-Anne Briscoe on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at The Grove Nursing Home, Arnprior, at the age of 83. Raye-Anne (Buffam) was the beloved wife of the late John Briscoe (2015) and the daughter of George and Jean Buffam of Renfrew. She is survived by her brother Andrew (Pat) Buffam. She was sister-in-law to the late Margaret Briscoe, Katherine (late Wayne), late Eddy (late Wilda), and David (late Bev) Briscoe. She will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, close friends, and colleagues.
Raye-Anne began her professional career teaching in Renfrew County and quickly became an active leader in her community of Admaston/Bromley. She served faithfully for over 20 years as a councillor and then for 14 years as mayor. She was also a member of the Renfrew County Council, Dairy Union, and the Ontario Drainage Board, and played a vital role in recruiting many doctors through the Renfrew Health Village.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Trinity St. Andrew’s United Church Hall (basement) in Renfrew, with a luncheon to follow. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
