BROCKBANK, Dorothy May Brockbank

Dorothy passed away peacefully at the Allendale Long Term Care Residence in Milton on May 8, 2025, at the age of 97. She was born on May 3, 1928, in Toronto to Charles Henry Wallis and Gladys Morcom Jones.

Predeceased by her husband Jack Brockbank, Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her daughter Donna (Loris), son Bill (Renee), and grandchildren Jennifer, Mark (Charlotte), Connor (Alisa), Eric, and Shane.

A Memorial Visitation and Reception will be held on Sunday, June 1, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Upper Visitation Suite and Lounge at McKersie & Early Funeral Home, 114 Main St. E., Milton. (Elevator available.)

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Willow Foundation are appreciated. The foundation supports art, music, and virtual reality programs in Halton Region long-term care homes.

Dorothy’s life was defined by resilience, love, and generosity. Her early years were shaped by the Great Depression and WWII. As a teen, she supported her family, learned how to stretch every dollar, and earned a high school diploma—rare at that time for women.

Dorothy married Jack Brockbank in 1952 and raised two children in Mount Dennis, Toronto. Their family adventures included canoeing, tent trailers, and road trips across Canada and the U.S. After Jack’s death in 1977, Dorothy remained active through volunteerism, work in hospitals and legal offices, and travel with friends.

She was a lifelong learner, enjoying book clubs, walking groups, and events at Learning Unlimited. A devoted friend and mother, Dorothy’s love for her Harp Lake cottage endured, where she swam daily and made cherished memories with her grandchildren.

Dorothy lived independently into her late eighties and eventually moved to Allendale LTC in 2018. Her kindness, wisdom, and calm presence made her beloved by all.
