BROOKES, Richard James Brookes

Passed away after a long battle with lung disease on October 20, 2025 at the age of 76. Loving husband of Linda for 40 years. Dear father of Jennifer Brookes (Jason Laliberte), Matthew Brookes (Shelly), Lynne Bastien (Charlie), Brandon Brookes, Paula Flack, Ricky Brookes (Amber Parker), Jessica Brookes (Casey Broadfoot) and his youngest Johnny Brookes (Julie). Proud grandpa of 21 and great -grandpa of 3. Reunited with his loving parents John and Lucy Burlak, and Norman Brookes. Brother to the late Danny Brookes. Rick will be greatly missed by his best man and longtime friend Gerald Booth (Sue) and friends Brian and Cindy Hay. Rick proudly served a short time in the Army as an Artilleryman before beginning a career at Chrysler, where he worked for over 40 years and retired in 2008. He kept working after retirement transporting vehicles for Chrysler for a few years. He loved spending his days fishing, watching classic movies, and playing video games. He especially cherished time with his grandchildren and never missed a chance to tell a joke. We would like to give a special thanks to the ICU at Windsor Regional Hospital – Metropolitan Campus for their hard work and devotion. Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – Central Chapel (1700 Tecumseh Rd. E.) 519-253-7234 on Sunday, October 26, 2025 from 4pm -8pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, October 27 from 10am until the Time of Service in the Chapel at 11am. Cremation to follow. Memorial donations may be made to The Canadian Lung Association.
