BROWN, Lorna Jean Bailie nee Brown
February 29, 1952 - December 17, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorna Bailie, 73, on December 17, 2025, peacefully at home, surrounded by her close family.
She is survived by her devoted spouse, Peter Bailie; her loving children, Cara Lahey (John) and Mathew Bailie (Alicia); and her cherished grandchildren, Maddie, Kira, Tegan, and Libby. Also survived by her brothers, Ron Brown (Ruth) and Ralph Brown (Janice), and her sister Dianne Denison (Wayne). She is predeceased by her mother Dorothy Brown and her father Stuart Brown.
Lorna had a successful career of over 30 years at Statistics Canada. In retirement, she pursued her passion for the outdoors and developed many friendships through her love of tennis, cycling, hiking, and skiing. She spent many years at Mont Tremblant, embracing everything it had to offer. She was very proud of her garden there, and loved working in it. Travel was another passion of Lorna’s. She took part in “adventure travel” before there was a term for it. Also, Lorna loved entertaining, and invited friends and family for dinners. She could prepare a feast for any occasion.
Lorna will be remembered for her warmth, her kindness, her determination, her grace, and her thoughtfulness. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her adventurous spirit and love for life will continue to inspire all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, and Ontario Health at Home, for the care Lorna received while undergoing her treatment. They were extremely kind, and dedicated in their work. We would also like to express our gratitude to Lorna’s palliative care physician, Dr. Tara Jennings of CPMA, for her dedication, expertise and responsiveness to Lorna’s needs. The exemplary service Lorna received was very much appreciated.
A reception where friends and family can gather to support each other, will be held on December 30, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Highland Park Cemetery, 2037 McGee Side Road, Ottawa, Ontario.
If you wish to honor Lorna’s memory, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society , or another charity of your choice.
