It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearest, Richard Allen Brown, known simply as “Fly” to the many, many friends, family, and community members who knew and loved him.
Rick was born on February 1, 1951, and devoted his life to serving others. From his early 20s as an apprentice at Beven Electric to his final days, he was the go-to person for electrical and plumbing issues, always putting others first.
When not working—though that was rare—he loved relaxing on the patio with family and friends, beer in hand, grilling his favourite foods, and spinning legendary tales from his many fishing trips (most of which, we’re told, can’t be shared here).
Richard is survived by his beloved soulmate and spouse of 39 years, Brenda Lynn Force. Together, they did everything—even fishing—and their love was unbreakable. “Loving you and being loved by you was the greatest gift of all,” shared Brenda.
Predeceased by his parents Doreen and Clarence Russell “Rusty” Brown, Rick leaves behind sons Gabe and Matthew, stepchildren Mandy Stanford, Johnny (Patience) Force, and Jason (Sonya) Force, as well as siblings Terry (Gae, predeceased), Tom (Janet), Rob (Hazel), Joyce (Gary) Mudford, Barb (Dean) Tomblin, Kathy (Ted) Swartz, and Linda (Dan, predeceased) DeGroote. He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stedman Community Hospice in honour of their compassionate care. Arrangements entrusted to Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford.
Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Keith Ovington Funeral Home.
