BROWNE, Audrey Mackenzie Browne
February 9, 2026
It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Audrey, who passed away peacefully, on February 9, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton, after a long and courageous battle with kidney disease. She was 91 years old. Born to William and Ivy Elms (both predeceased), Audrey lived a life rooted in love, service and devotion to her family. She was the beloved wife of Alexander Innes Mackenzie (predeceased 1974), and later Bertram Browne (predeceased 2004), and carried their memories in her heart throughout her life. Family was the centre of her world. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Patty Mackenzie, and son, Michael Mackenzie, and a much loved grandmother to Mitchell and Christopher Baldwin, taking immense joy and pride in every moment she shared with them. Caring for her family was her greatest purpose and deepest joy. Audrey was the dear sister of the late Ken Elms, sister-in-law to the late Lois Elms, and the loving aunt to Shari Bragg (Mark) and Shawna Elms.
A dedicated Kindergarten teacher, Audrey touched countless young lives with her patience, warmth and gentle guidance. She enjoyed an active social life, finding happiness in line dancing, playing cards and participating in social gatherings.
A private funeral service and burial will be held in accordance with her wishes. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Peter’s Hospital for their compassionate care, kindness, and support during her final days. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
