BROWNLEE, Boyd Brownlee

It is with great sadness but with thankful hearts for a life well lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Boyd James Brownlee on December 9, 2025 at Long-term Care in Shawville with family by his side.

Boyd was born in Shawville, October 17, 1938 and was a third generation dairy farmer at AppleGrove Farms, Shawville. He married Betty Lou (nee Campeau) November 18, 1961. Together they instilled a deep faith in God that has held us together through tough times. They modeled the value of hard work and perseverance. After leaving the homestead and retiring to their new home on Calumet Road, Dad pursued other interests. He was known in the community as having the best sweet corn in Shawville. He had many returning customers who were loyal to the Brownlee corn brand. Dad served on the Valley Mutual Insurance Board for many years, which he really enjoyed. Dad was a caregiver to many patients in the hospital that just needed a little extra support and kindness. Most importantly Dad was actively involved in his church, he was a board member, Sunday school teacher, a gifted singer, song leader and musician. Our home was always open and available to anyone who needed a place to stay, a meal, or just some encouragement.

Cherished by his wife of 64 years Betty Lou Campeau, whom he loved deeply and would greet her on her daily visits with “There’s my Sweetie” , followed by a kiss.

Proud and beloved Dad of Kellie (Stuart) Marples, Willie (Gail), Randy (Andrea), Ruthie (Allen) Wright and Karen (Jason) Prins. Much loved Grandpa/Poppa of Shawn (Tina), Heidi (Gareth), Ian, Jacob (Ami), Abigail, Emily (Andrew), Riley (AmyLynn) Noah (Jordan), Rachel, Matthew (Harley), Sadie, Ethan, Austin and Colten.

Boyd was also the proud Great Grandpa of Bailey, Olivia, August, Hallee, Bennett, Logan, Lyla and Redden.

Predeceased by his parents William and Rose Brownlee, his siblings Flo Laughren (Ches), Wilma Maclean (Richard), and his brother Hansel (Betty).

He is survived by his brother Joe Brownlee, sisters in law Doris Atkinson, Grace Smart and Edna Campeau. Missed by many nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle Boyd. Boyd was a respected member of the former Shawville Wesleyan Church and now New Hope Church.
