It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, Adrian William de Bruyn. He was born on December 17, 1932 in Wernhout, Noord Brabent, The Netherlands, and passed away peacefully with his family by his side in Strathroy, Ontario on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the age of 92.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Joan de Bruyn (2008). Loving father of John (Lori) de Bruyn, Harry de Bruyn (2012), Jim (Lisa) de Bruyn, Kathy (Danny 2008) Peto, and Nancy de Bruyn (Jim Fowler). Cherished grandfather of Marc (Jordana), A.J. (Jen), Josh, Jacob (Alison), Adrian, Mike (Jen), Brad (Rachel), Matt (Kayla), and Holly (Buck). Proud Papa of 15 great-grandchildren.
Also survived by his brother Jeff and his wife Wilma of Salford, as well as extended family in Holland. Fondly remembered by his dear friend, Mary Dulisch.
Adrian immigrated from Holland in 1955, arriving in Halifax and building a new life in Ontario. In 1957, he returned to Holland to marry Joan before settling in Adelaide Township. A hardworking farmer, Adrian enjoyed showing and judging sheep at local fairs, served as a director for Lobo Mutual Insurance, and held roles as councillor and deputy mayor for Adelaide Metcalfe Township.
He was devoted to his family and will always be remembered for the smiles he shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to celebrate Adrian’s life on Sunday, May 18, 2025, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a vigil service at 2 p.m. at Denning’s of Strathroy.
