Obituary of Adrian William de Bruyn
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, Adrian William de Bruyn. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side in Strathroy, Ontario on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at the age of 92.

Born on December 17, 1932, in Wernhout, Noord Brabent, The Netherlands, Adrian immigrated to Canada in 1955, beginning a new chapter with strength and resolve. In 1957, he returned to Holland to marry his beloved wife Joan (predeceased in 2008), and together they built a beautiful life in Ontario.

Adrian was the loving father of John (Lori) de Bruyn, the late Harry de Bruyn (2012), Jim (Lisa) de Bruyn, Kathy (the late Danny, 2008) Peto, and Nancy de Bruyn (Jim Fowler).

Cherished grandfather to Marc (Jordana), A.J. (Jen), Josh, Jacob (Alison), Adrian, Mike (Jen), Brad (Rachel), Matt (Kayla), and Holly (Buck). Proud Papa of 15 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother Jeff and his wife Wilma and family of Salford, as well as extended family in The Netherlands. Adrian will also be fondly remembered by his dear friend, Mary Dulisch.

Adrian was a lifelong farmer, known for his dedication and passion. He enjoyed showing and judging sheep at local fairs and served as a director for Lobo Mutual Insurance. He also held positions as councillor and deputy mayor for Adelaide Metcalfe Township, giving back generously to his community.

Above all, Adrian loved his family—especially the little ones. His smile never faded when surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Friends are welcome to join the family in celebrating Adrian’s life on Sunday, May 18, 2025. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a vigil service at 2:00 p.m. at Denning’s of Strathroy.

If desired, memorial contributions to the Strathroy Middle General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Funeral Home Not Listed.
