BUKSH, Debbie Buksh
March 18, 1956 - November 27, 2025
Born on March 18, 1956 at St. Paul’s hospital in Vancouver. She was the daughter of the late Angelina and Loren Nolan. Debbie is survived by her 5 children Cliff, Tiffany, Sabrina, Ashley and Brandon. In addition to her grandchildren Kaelin, Zahir, Jacob, Quinn, Dani and Zahara.
Debbie passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of Nov. 27 after her battle with lung cancer. She chose to withhold all treatments to preserve her quality of life. She didn’t want to spend countless hours in hospitals. Instead she chose to utilize that time to be with family and friends.
Debbie was a kind and generous person who touched the lives of those around her. She was a social homebody who enjoyed hosting those she care for. She always made sure the kitchen counter was full of sweet treats, which of course was for the kids. She enjoyed gathering around the Christmas tree and watching the kids open their presents. As Debbie was a seasoned on-line shopper, she would spend countless hours looking for just the right gift.
Debbie was blessed to have enjoyed 41 years of marriage to her late husband Aktar Buksh who left us in June 2018. Debbie and Aktar’s relationship was outside the social norms for the time, as an inter-racial couple. They overcame many social scrutinies and would not allow them to dictate their relationship. After Aktar’s passing Debbie longed for her life partner. It is bitter sweet, Debbie’s passing will no doubt create a lasting void for many of us, however knowing she is reunited with her of their beings some comfort .
