BURNS, Howard Francis Burns

It is with profound sadness that the family of Mr. Howard Francis Burns, age 89 years, announce his passing at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

Born in Port Arthur, Ontario, Howie was an avid sportsman, holding a high school triple jump record and coaching various teams. He had a passion for cars and motorcycles, and a long career with Air Canada. He was devoted to his family, supporting his children and grandchildren’s activities throughout their lives.

Howard is lovingly remembered by his wife Julia, son Jeffrey, daughter Jennifer (Peter) Myllymaa, granddaughters Katia, Raija, and Ava Myllymaa, sister Vera Burns, and many extended family members across Canada, the U.K., and Australia.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, Thunder Bay. Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Foundation of Thunder Bay or a charity of choice.
