BUTTERY, Jean Buttery

It is with love and sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Vera (Jean) Buttery (née Crosier) on August 30, 2025, after a brief illness, at the age of 86. Jean was a resident of Douglas Crossing Retirement Residence in Uxbridge, Ontario, and previously lived for many years in the Kawartha Heights neighbourhood of Peterborough, Ontario.

Born at home in Reach Township, Ontario, in 1939, Jean always proudly called herself a “farm girl, just raising her boys.” Jean was known for her quiet strength, sharp wit, and unshakeable devotion to her family. Her warmth and kindness touched all who knew her, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved.
Jean and her dear husband Kenneth (predeceased) shared a deep love for their family cottage on Boshkung Lake. It was a cherished family place where countless memories were made with their children and grandchildren.

Jean was a proud Mother of four boys, Wayne, Derek (Lisa Paulin), Jay (Alex Campbell) and Leigh (Leah Chisholm). Jean adored her grandchildren: Wayne (and Linda’s) children Sam and Shannon, and Leigh and Leah’s daughters Ashley, Charlotte and Holly.

She is also survived by her sisters Mary Jane Phoenix (Earl) and Irene Crosier, and was predeceased by her brothers Don and Ron Crosier, and her sister Shirley Ann Calder.

A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean’s memory may be made to the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.  Family and friends may send condolences or make donations by contacting Low & Low Funeral Home, Uxbridge Chapel at www.lowandlow.ca.
