It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine (Cathy) Byers in Ottawa, ON, on June 3rd, 2025. Cathy passed peacefully in her sleep at Saint Patrick’s Home following a five-year battle with a rare neurological disorder.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Morrison (Salim), and granddaughters Lina and Letta. Cathy is survived by her sister Betty (Virgil), brother Bob Byers (Pat), and lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews Rob, Catherine, Karen, Debbie, George, and Peter.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Stephen Foster Morrison (2017), Cathy leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and resilience. She was a devoted educator for over 30 years at Cundles Heights Public School in Barrie, ON, and a proud graduate of Sir Wilfred Laurier University.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Patrick’s Home in Ottawa, ON, whose staff provided her with compassionate care in her final months. A celebration of life will take place in Barrie, ON at a later date.
