CAPUTO, Guido Caputo

Surrounded by his beloved wife and children, Guido Caputo passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, at the age of 75.

A devoted husband for over 48 years, Guido’s love for Anna was unwavering. He was a dedicated father to Filiberto “Bert” (Anne) and Julie Taylor (Dean), instilling values of hard work, kindness, and integrity. Perhaps most cherished was his role as “Nono,” which he embraced wholeheartedly with his grandchildren: Cody, Claire, Quinn, and Avery.

Guido was a beloved brother, cherished neighbour, dependable brother-in-law, and loving uncle to many. His devotion to family knew no bounds—driving hours without hesitation just to be with them.

A lifelong learner, Guido had a 39-year career as an Insect Tissue Culture Biologist with Forestry Canada. He was a respected community leader, Chairperson of the Algoma Public Health Unit, and a recipient of the Heather Crowe Award. He was actively involved with Club Calabrese, healthcare boards, and cultural initiatives.

Guido and Anna spent over a decade enjoying Florida winters, especially visits from grandchildren. He found joy in espresso, reading, and spirited conversations.

Visitation will be held at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Memorial Mass at 1:00 p.m. at St. Gregory’s Parish, 71 Estelle Street.

In Guido’s honour, guests are encouraged to wear vibrant and comfortable attire. Donations may be made to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation. To honour him, enjoy an espresso, share love with someone dear, or take that long-postponed trip.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Northwood Funeral Home.
