With broken hearts, but deep gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of Lucia Carneiro (Misquitta), a devoted wife, loving mother, proud nana, and faithful servant of God, who left this world on May 3, 2025, at the age of 75, following a sudden and courageous two-month battle with cancer.

Though her illness was brief, her strength never wavered. Lucia met each day with a radiant smile, a hopeful spirit and an unshakable faith in God. She was a beacon of light to all who knew her, offering love, encouragement and joy that reached far beyond her family.

Born in 1949, Lucia spent her life creating a home filled with warmth, kindness, and laughter. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 50 years, George, who was her partner in every sense of the word—her best friend, her rock and the love of her life.

She was the proud and loving mother of Kevin (Liane) and Trevor (Amy), whose lives were shaped and blessed by her gentle wisdom and constant love. Her grandchildren—Andrew, Amelie, and Brennen and Owen, Alexander, Oliver, and Annika —brought her immense joy and were the lights of her later years. She cherished each of them deeply and poured into their lives with the same grace and joy that defined her. Lucia is also survived by her siblings – Doreen, Raymond and Denis.

Her faith in God was the foundation of her life. It guided her words, her actions and the way she treated others—with compassion, humility and unwavering hope. To know Lucia was to feel seen, loved and uplifted. Her presence had a way of comforting the weary, encouraging the doubtful and bringing joy to the everyday.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11am on July 3rd at St. Luke’s parish, where family and friends will gather to honor the legacy of a woman who touched so many hearts and lived her life with love and purpose.
Though her time with us was cut short, her impact will live on in every person who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit, her laughter and her love will never be forgotten.
