BREEN, Caroline Katherine  –  Our beloved Caroline Katherine Breen, of Toronto, Ontario, age 33, passed away peacefully, on October 26, 2023, after a lengthy illness and hospital stay.

Caroline will be profoundly missed by her mother, Ann McCarthy Breen; her father, John Breen; and her brother, Colin Breen.

Caroline will be dearly missed by her grandparents, Bernard and Patricia Breen of Kingston, Ontario. Many aunts, uncles and cousins in Texas and Pennsylvania and in Kingston were important in Caroline’s life, especially her cousin, Thomas McCarthy, and her aunt, Linda Struthers.

Caroline was predeceased by her grandparents, Michael and Caroline McCarthy of Pennsylvania.

As well, Caroline was predeceased by her great-grandmother, Helen McCarthy of Texas; and great-grandmother, Katherine Murray of Kingston.

A graduate of Notre Dame High School, Caroline also attended W. Ross Macdonald School for the Blind.

Volunteering annually to help with holiday food drives at Community Centre 55 was a favourite activity.

Caroline was a member of the Canadian Council for the Blind. She was also a 30-year kidney transplant recipient and never lost her gratitude for her special anonymous organ donor family.

Caroline died of kidney and liver failure, secondary to Bardet-Biedl Syndrome at Toronto General Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.
