Celebrating the Journey of  Jose Carreira

Peacefully passed on September 20, 2025, at Baywoods Place, Hamilton, in his 90th year. Jose leaves behind his wife Luzia. He will be dearly missed by his children Gloria, Joe (Denise), Isabel (Frank), Luis, Dora (Richard), and George (Diane). He will also be dearly missed by his step-children Teresa (Tony), Maria Joao, Fatima. Adoring grandfather and great grandfather to many grandchildren and great grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy. He is survived by his brothers Tito and Horacio. Jose will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jose will be fondly remembered for his love of the beach, but especially the ocean in Portugal. Soccer was his passion, but he also derived great joy from simpler activities like playing cards and dominoes, in addition to just a little glass of wine at the end of his day.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Baywoods Place, especially the medical and nursing support team on the 5th floor, for the exceptional compassion and care demonstrated to Jose.  Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E., on Wednesday, September 24th from 9a.m.-12p.m., with a service to immediately follow in the funeral home chapel at 12p.m. In keeping with Jose’s wishes, cremation will take place, with a private burial to follow at a later date.
