It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Carter (née Lavictoire) at the Cornwall Community Hospital on Thursday, May 1st, 2025 at the age of 87 years. Beloved wife of the late Jack Carter.

Loving mother of Richard Carter (Micheline), Stephen Carter (Mary Cumming), and Shelley Chaytor (late Jeffrey). Cherished grandmother of Mélanie Verdone (Matthew), Matthew Carter (Emily), Vanessa Carter (Tom Hooker), Chad Carter (Katelyn), Christine Carter (Jay Kitts), Jessica Carter (Jeff McNamara), Ryan Chaytor (Leah), Ashley Lefebvre (Daniel), Amanda Brasseur (Sébastien), Kathryn Brunet (Al Joanette), Anne Brunet, Paul Brunet (Jade), and Luc Brunet.

Special great-grandmother of Carter, Hunter, Sawyer, Henrick, Franklin, Quincy, Hughen, Charlotte, Kelly, Alexa, Autumn, Aydin, Liam, Laycie, Emma, Jack, Mackenzie, Émilie, Gabrielle, Noah, Jacob, and Brooke.

Dearest sister of Jeanne D’Arc (late François), Gisèle (late Robert), Lucie (late Maurice), and Linda. She is predeceased by her parents, Aldéma and Marie-Reine (née Cousineau).

Honouring Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Mary’s family invites all family and friends to gather for visitation and remembrance at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, Ontario on Thursday, May 8th, 2025 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Friday, May 9th, 2025 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Precious Blood Church, 18318 County Road 2, Cornwall (Glen Walter) on Friday, May 9th, 2025 at 12 noon.

In honour of her memory, the family invites you to consider making a donation to the Canadian Lung Association or to the Cornwall Community Hospital.
