ROBERTS, Charles Noel – CD Squadron Leader, Retired World War II Veteran, RCAF (1936 – 1966) PER ARDUA AD ASTRA Our dear father and grandfather passed away peacefully at The Perley-Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre on Sunday, October 4, 2015, after a long and happy life.

Beloved husband for 68 years of Ada “Jo” Booth who predeceased him in 2008. Charlie, as he was known to all, was the only child of Ernest “Will” Roberts and Gladys “Lil” Collins.

He was born on December 21, 1916, in York, England. The Roberts family emigrated to Canada in 1928, and settled in Ottawa. Charlie joined the RCAF in 1936, served in Europe during WW II, and retired from the service in 1966.

He and Ada married in 1939, and moved their family 23 times before they retired in Ottawa.

Left with fond memories are Charlie’s family, his son Peter and wife Thelma of Kemptville, daughter Penelope of Brockville, and son Robin and wife Agi of Ladysmith, BC.

Dear grandfather of Karen (Kirk), Michael, Jessica (Fred), Fergie (Teresa), Noel (Dawn), Adrian, Melissa, Amelia. Loving great-grandfather of Duncan, Simon, Alexandra, Sebastien, Siobhan, Hailey, Brittani, Zachari, Jeremi, Ely, Oliver, Benjamin, Adrianna and Lily.

Charlie is also survived by his sister-in-law Joan Booth Grieves and many nieces and nephews.

His family thanks all of the staff on Rideau 2 North, PRVHC, who cared for Charlie with such love for the past 4 years. A private family service was held at the Brown Chapel of Hulse, Playfair, and McGarry in Kemptville, Ontario, on Wednesday, October 7th. Father Robert Porter of St. James Anglican Church, Kemptville, officiated.
