CHYB, Genevieve Chyb

Passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, in her 95th year, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Marian in 1999. Together, they shared 51 wonderful years of marriage. Beloved mother of Donna Rivaletto (Marco), Janet Pollet (Peter), and the late Henry Chyb (2025). Cherished grandmother of Matthew (Taylor), Nicole (James), Isabelle (Jason) and Chantel (Andrew). Proud great-grandmother of Mila, Emily, Blake, Kaleb, Blair, Kacie, and Sofia. Dear sister of Henri Jaros, predeceased by her siblings Janina, Stella, Annie, and Simon.
She will be lovingly remembered by her extended family and many friends.
Born in France, Genevieve immigrated to Canada in November 1951. She was a devoted and active member of her church, St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, where she found great joy singing in the choir and living her faith with grace and dedication.
Genevieve’s greatest joy was her family — especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved traveling and sharing her adventures. She adored cooking and baking, and her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the smell of something delicious from the oven. A gifted gardener, she took great pride in growing beautiful flowers and abundant vegetables each season.

Genevieve will be remembered for her strength, independence, and perseverance — qualities that guided her through life’s challenges with strength, faith, and love.

Please join with the family for visitation on Sunday October 26, 2025 from 2 – 5 pm at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa. A Mass will be held on Monday October 27th at 11 am at St. Hedwig’s Polish Catholic Church, 411 Olive Avenue, Oshawa. Interment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
