CIL, Mustafa Cil

It is with great sadness that the Çil family announce the passing of Mustafa Çil, devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  Mustafa passed away with courage on the morning of November 10th, 2025, at the age of 87, in Windsor, Ontario – a place he called home for over 60 years.  Known for his generosity, warmth, and sense of humour, Mustafa will be remembered for the joy he brought to everyone and the impact he made in all of us.

Born on February 23rd, 1938, in Boyabat, Türkiye, to Mehmet and Zehra Çil, Mustafa grew up in the Laleli-Aksaray district of Istanbul. He graduated from the prestigious Kuleli Military High School and later the Turkish Air Force Academy before earning a degree in Business and Accounting from Istanbul University.

In 1972, Mustafa married Havva, the love of his life. Together, for over 53 years, they raised four wonderful children:  Tülin (m. Peter), Aylin (m. Çağatay), Okan, and Pınar (m. Alex).

Mustafa, or “Mike” as he was known in the community, was the proud owner of Ironex Aluminum Fencing and Railing on Walker Road for over 40 years.  In retirement, Mustafa enjoyed his cherished summers in Bodrum with his family, often planning his many home projects on his swing with his beloved Havva.

Mustafa is survived by his wife, his children, and his grandchildren: Elâ, Aydin, Emre, Defne, and Elif Naz.

Although he may no longer be with us, he left us with beautiful memories and important life lessons.  He will forever be in our hearts and guide us in our lives.  We miss you deeply and will always love you.

A funeral service will be held at the Windsor Mosque on November 13th, located at 1320 Northwood Street.  Interment will be at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.  A reception to follow at one of Mustafa’s favourite local restaurants, The Naked Cup on Old Tecumseh Road.
