CLAPPERTON, Derrill Shirley Clapperton

After a period of failing health, Derrill Clapperton died peacefully surrounded by family at Nipissing Serenity Hospice, North Bay on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. He was 78 years old.

Derrill was predeceased by: his wife Betty J. (Courvoisier); his parents Gwen (Brown) and Russel Clapperton; and his siblings Leta Smith (the late George), Erva Gorham (the late Bert), Orlie Clapperton (Enid of Alberta), and Marion Bain (Ernie of Parry Sound).

He was the loving father of Keri-Lynn Goldsmith and Kristi-Lee Trainer of Powassan, and proud grandfather of Dillon (Skye Matthews), Nathan, Nicholas and great-grandchildren Deacon and Ellie.

Derrill is survived by his siblings Gloria Gillette (the late Joe) and Harley Clapperton (the late Iris) of Alberta, and Warren Clapperton (Hazel) of South River.

Derrill was the retired Owner/Operator of Clapperton’s Garage and Towing in Port Loring. He was a life-long lover of classic and antique vehicles and long-time member of the North Bay Car Club.

The Clapperton family will receive visitors at Arnstein Gospel Hall from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm and will be live-streamed (please see below); followed by a reception. Spring interment will take place at Loring Community Cemetery.
