
On Thursday June 26th, 2025 at the age of 86, Carol Ann Clarke (Holtzhauer) passed away. Her beloved husband, Glenn Harry Clarke and her parents Harold and Mildred Holtzhauer predeceased her. She was the loving mother to Robert (Ingrid), William (Wendy) and Bradley (Jocelyn) Clarke. Cherished grandmother to 8 grandchildren, Nicole and Hanna (Bob and Ingrid – Newmarket), Evan, Leah and Paige (Bill and Wendy – Ottawa), Logan, Mason and Vanessa (Bradley and Jocelyn – Mississauga).
Beloved sister to Wayne and sister-in-law Lois (predeceased) Holtzhauer, and sister Judy and brother-in-law Ed LeRuez. Dear brother-in-law and sister-in-law Milton (predeceased) and Joan (predeceased) Clarke, and sister-in-law Ann and brother-in-law Robert (predeceased) Gray.
Carol will be missed by her nephews and nieces, Mark and Colin LeRuez, Jeff and Dineen (predeceased) Gray, Allan (predeceased) and Leslie Ann Clarke and their families.
Carol was born and raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario where she graduated high school. She worked at Table Rock and a Customs Broker Office. Carol and Glenn married and commenced their life together in Niagara Falls. They moved to Tillsonburg where they raised their family.
While living in Tillsonburg Carol was a caregiver not only to her 3 sons, but to many children. She taught Sunday School, worked as a Librarian at Valley Heights School, and as a Bookkeeper at Doug Swinn’s Service. Carol retired at the age of 60.
Carol Ann had many artistic talents. She sewed, made ceramics, painted many beautiful blankets and tablecloths, and enjoyed knitting slippers for family and friends. Her other talents included cooking and baking for her family. Carol’s pies, cabbage rolls and her spaghetti and meatballs were extraordinary. Carol enjoyed her dogs Prince, Jiggs, Broderick and Winston. She loved swimming, fishing, country music and enjoyed watching sports with family and friends.
Carol enjoyed a wonderful retirement with Glenn, travelling and spending time, sharing and caring with family and friends. She enjoyed her trips across Canada and in the United States. Carol loved to take lots of pictures and enjoyed sharing these wonderful memories.
Carol benefitted from the care and kindness of the staff and residents from Evergreen Retirement Home and The Village of Erin Meadows. Carol’s warm, peaceful and welcoming spirit was with her until the end. Her love and friendship touched all who met her. Carol’s legacy of kindness will remain with all those who knew her.
Carol Ann will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Friends may visit with the family at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown on Sunday, July 6, 2025 from 1 – 3 p.m. where a Funeral Service will begin at 3 p.m. Cremation to follow. Private interment Fairview Cemetery, Niagara Falls.
If desired, donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation, Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, or Toronto Sick Children’s Hospital in memory of Carol Ann Clarke would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
