CLEMMENS, Arlene Clemmens

Arlene Mae Gail Clemmens passed away peacefully on July 8th, 2025, at Joseph Brant Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 84 years old.

Arlene was a devoted wife to the late Paul Clemmens, with whom she shared 30 beautiful years of marriage. After 36 years, she is now reunited with him. She was a cherished mother to Robert Clemmens (Darlene), Tyra Wilkinson (Matt), and the late David Clemmens (Linda). Her grandchildren were her pride and joy: Ashley (Chris), Matthew, Miranda, Greyden, Brooklyn, and great-grandson Nicholas.

Arlene will be deeply missed by her brother Norm Pratt, sisters-in-law Vi and Jean, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the fourth of six children, preceded in death by her brothers Alan, Ken, and Dave, and her sister Ethel.

Arlene grew up in Toronto’s west end, attended Runnymede Collegiate, and began her career at TD Bank. She later worked as a bookkeeper for an accounting firm and eventually became the office manager for JD Caulking, retiring in 2010.

In her retirement, Arlene was an active member of the Bayshore Seniors Association, serving as president for several terms. She loved card games—especially Bridge and Bid Euchre—and was always working on a new knitting or crocheting project. She enjoyed reading historical fiction novels and solving sudoku and crosswords.

Arlene found her greatest joy at Woodland Beach, where her family’s cottage had been passed through five generations. She created many cherished memories there, surrounded by loved ones.

Known for her sense of humor, warmth, and resilience, Arlene was the matriarch of her family. She brought people together, shared wisdom, and was a strong role model. Despite facing life’s challenges—including three separate breast cancer diagnoses and the early loss of her husband—she never let life bring her down.

A celebration of her beautiful life will be held at the Bayshore Seniors Hall, 2000 Tiny Beaches Road South, Woodland Beach, on Sunday, August 10th from 1–3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
