MORSE, Clifford Eric Morse Obituary

 

MORSE, Clifford Eric – Passed away peacefully at the age of 98, on December 28th, 2015 at the Perley Rideau Veteran’s Health Centre in Ottawa.

He was born on November 28th, 1917 in Montreal, Quebec.

He attended West Hill High School where he was described as the outstanding athlete in his class.

He studied Electrical Engineering at McGill University, graduating in 1941, and always claimed he attended university to play football.

He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Tuddenham, in December 1941 before being called up to the RCAF.

After the war he returned to Montreal where he raised his family and worked as Chief Engineer for Dominion Glass.

In 1969 he took a position as VP Manufacturing for Pearce Glass in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania. He later moved to South Carolina with the Indian Head Corporation, and then retired to his beloved Saint Simons Island, Georgia.

Cliff returned to Ottawa in 2009 to be closer to family. He spent time in the Colonel By Retirement Home and then more recently, the Perley Rideau Veteran’s Health Centre.

He will be remembered for his eternal optimism, unbending good nature and his good fortune in life.

Cliff was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years Helen (Tuddenham), parents Edith and John Morse, brothers Ralph, Norman and Arthur Morse.

He was the cherished father of Eric, Linda (Ken Tilden) and Donald (Pamela Godding), and grandfather to eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, Ontario on January 3, 2016 at 1:00pm.

Donations can be made to the Perley Rideau Foundation in lieu of flowers.
