CONIAM, Reginald Derek Coniam

He was Promoted to Glory on December 15, 2025 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Sharon (nee Grzesiak) and cherished father of Sheri Lynn. Brother of the late Margaret (Coniam) and the late John McDougall. Brother-in-law to Valerie and Robert Wheatley, and Marlene and late Micheal Grzesiak. “Brother” to Judy and the late John Best, Maurice Sr. and the late Sylvia Hewitt. A very proud and blessed Uncle, Papa, great and great great uncle.

Derek was a funeral director for 42 years and a PSW for a further 8 years. A volunteer with the VON, a Senior Soldier with the St. Thomas Salvation Army and a Boy Scout, receiving the Queen Scout Badge in 1956. He was also an avid knitter and crocheter. Derek was a dedicated Mason of 64 years. A member of Temple Lodge No. 296 since 1961, where he served as Master in 1971 and 1972, as well as secretary for 11 years. He joined Warren Lodge No. 120, Fingal, and served as Master in 2018 and District Deputy Grand Master for St. Thomas District in 2016-17. A member of Mount Moriah Chapter No.19, serving as First Principle in 1983 and 1984, then becoming a member of Palestine Chapter No. 54, serving as Grand Superintendent for London District No. 2 in 2019-20. A member of Burleigh Preceptor No. 21, serving as Presiding Preceptor in 2020. A member or Niagara Lodge of Perfection, Rose Croix and Moor Sovereign Consistory.

Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Sunday, December 21, 2025 from 1:00 – 5:00 pm. A Masonic Service will be held at 4:45 pm.

Cremation to follow with an interment of ashes in Grimsby at a later date.
